PARKA'S WITH PUNCH
The end of daylight savings is here, bringing about shorter days, cooler nights and wardrobe makeovers!
Layered looks are on the horizon and now is the perfect time to prepare for the big chill and update his outerwear staples.
When shopping for the perfect winter 'daywear jacket' there are SO many things to consider. The warmth it provides being paramount, followed by durability, water resistance (hello spontaneous Melbourne showers), easy openings/closures and a fit which allows maximum movement for busy bodies!
Second to functionality is the overall aesthetic; lets face it, we all want a jacket or parka that will compliment his look rather than detract from it!
One style that caught my eye - both for it's practicality and stylish appeal is the Padded Parka by Uniqlo. It's lightweight, easy wearing and features high tech microfibre padding to keep little ones warm without hindering their play. The easy operable zipper developed with YKK encourage self dressing - ideal for preschoolers and kinder kids scrambling to 'coat up' for outdoor play.
Padding (or quilting) is a huge trend this season and an instant way to inject some style into his wardrobe. I personally love mixing textures when layering the Tribe's looks and the wide stitch panels on Uniqlo's padded outwear collection (vests and jackets are also available) is by far the most appealing I've spotted in my travels.
Available in 10 colours, the Padded Parka is exceptional value at $49.90. We paid a visit to our local Uniqlo store (Highpoint) so the boys could try on the for size and select their preferred Parka colour. Tevita chose Black (size 150), Maikeli went Beige (size 140), Tomasi decided on Dark Grey (size 130) and Salesi (with some assistance) chose Red (size 110).
The Tribe are also wearing Ultra Stretch Denim from Uniqlo as well as shirts and knits from their latest LifeWear collection.
